Tour Plan

  • Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Nyerere National Park (Selous)
After early breakfast in Dar es Salaam, depart by road toward Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve. The drive takes approximately 5–6 hours through rural landscapes and local villages. Upon arrival, check in at Mloka Safari Lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Rufiji River — a unique experience in southern Tanzania. The river ecosystem supports hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and abundant birdlife. The boat safari provides a different perspective compared to traditional game drives. Dinner and overnight at Mloka Safari Lodge.
  • Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park
After breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park, one of Africa’s largest protected wildlife areas. The park is known for its vast, untouched wilderness and lower visitor density compared to the northern parks. Wildlife sightings may include lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, African wild dogs (occasionally), and numerous antelope species. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park to maximize time in the field. Return to Mloka Safari Lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and your second overnight.
  • Day 3: Nyerere – Mikumi National Park
After breakfast, depart Nyerere and drive toward Mikumi National Park, located along the Dar es Salaam–Iringa highway. Arrive in Mikumi in the afternoon and proceed directly for a game drive. Mikumi’s open plains are often compared to the Serengeti due to their wide visibility and abundant wildlife. You may encounter lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and buffalo. Dinner and overnight at Camp Lilac (or similar accommodation in Mikumi).
  • Day 4: Mikumi Game Drive – Morogoro
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Mikumi National Park, when wildlife is most active. The Mkata Floodplain is a highlight area, offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and diverse scenery. After the game drive and lunch, depart for Morogoro town. Dinner and overnight at Forest Sunset Hotel, offering scenic views over the surrounding hills.
  • Day 5: Morogoro – Return to Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, depart Morogoro and drive back to Dar es Salaam. Arrival is expected in the early afternoon, marking the end of your 5-day southern Tanzania safari adventure.
