Day 1: Zanzibar – Fly to Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with a morning transfer from your Zanzibar hotel to the airport for a scheduled flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will be met by your professional safari guide and depart directly for Tarangire National Park, approximately a 2-hour drive. Tarangire is famed for its large elephant herds, majestic baobab trees, and seasonal swamps that attract abundant wildlife. During your full-day game drive, you may encounter lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and a wide variety of bird species. The Tarangire River serves as a vital water source, making wildlife sightings especially rewarding. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the park to maximize game viewing time. In the late afternoon, drive to Karatu town for dinner and overnight at Eileen’s Trees Inn, a comfortable lodge set within lush gardens in the Ngorongoro highlands. -
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Exploration
After an early breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Crater and descend approximately 600 meters into this world-renowned natural amphitheater. The crater floor hosts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, offering excellent opportunities to spot the Big Five, including the rare black rhino. The diverse habitats within the crater — grasslands, forests, and soda lakes — support lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, flamingos, and large herds of zebra and wildebeest. A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic crater site near a hippo pool before ascending in the afternoon. Return to Karatu for dinner and your second overnight at Eileen’s Trees Inn. -
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Fly Back to Zanzibar
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact yet ecologically diverse park nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Lake Manyara is known for its lush groundwater forest, alkaline lake, and seasonal flamingo populations. The park is also famous for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, elephants, and hippos. A morning game drive offers varied scenery and excellent photographic opportunities. After lunch, transfer to Arusha Airport for your scheduled afternoon flight back to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, concluding your short but rewarding Northern Tanzania safari.
