Day 1: Zanzibar – Tarangire National Park – Karatu
Your safari begins with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Zanzibar to the airport for a scheduled flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will be met by your professional safari guide and depart directly for Tarangire National Park, approximately a 2-hour drive. Tarangire is renowned for its vast elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife concentrated along the Tarangire River. During your full-day game drive, you may encounter lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and numerous bird species. The park’s seasonal swamps and river system attract large concentrations of animals, particularly during the dry season. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park, allowing you to maximize your game viewing time. In the late afternoon, you will depart Tarangire and drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Hhando Coffee Lodge, a charming lodge set amidst coffee plantations and lush highland scenery. -
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Fly Back to Zanzibar
After an early breakfast, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600 meters into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the crater floor supports an exceptionally dense population of wildlife within a compact area. This offers one of the best opportunities in Tanzania to spot the Big Five — lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rare black rhino. You may also encounter hippos, hyenas, jackals, flamingos, and large herds of wildebeest and zebra. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at a scenic crater site near a hippo pool before ascending the crater walls in the afternoon. You will then transfer back to Arusha Airport for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar, where upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel, marking the end of your short but unforgettable Tanzanian safari adventure.
