Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park is one of southern Tanzania’s most accessible wildlife destinations, located along the main highway between Dar es Salaam and the interior. Its open Mkata Floodplain, often compared to the Serengeti, offers excellent visibility and rewarding game viewing throughout the year. Visitors can expect to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, wildebeest, and a variety of antelope species, along with abundant birdlife. With its scenic backdrops of the Uluguru and Udzungwa Mountains, Mikumi provides a convenient yet authentic safari experience ideal for short wildlife escapes from the coast or Dar es Salaam.
