Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast in Arusha, depart with your professional safari guide for Lake Manyara National Park, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Lake Manyara is a small but ecologically diverse park, known for its lush groundwater forest, alkaline lake, and impressive biodiversity. During your game drive, you may encounter elephants, hippos, giraffes, zebras, large troops of baboons, and a variety of birdlife including flamingos (seasonal). The park is also famous for its elusive tree-climbing lions. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the park. In the late afternoon, drive to Karatu town for dinner and overnight at Eileen’s Trees Inn, surrounded by gardens and coffee farms in the Ngorongoro highlands. -
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Crater and descend approximately 600 meters into this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater floor supports one of Africa’s densest concentrations of wildlife within a compact area. This offers an excellent opportunity to spot the Big Five, including the endangered black rhino. The diverse habitats — open grasslands, forest patches, and soda lakes — attract lions, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, hippos, flamingos, and large herds of wildebeest and zebra. A picnic lunch will be served near a hippo pool before ascending the crater walls in the afternoon. Return to Karatu for dinner and your second overnight at Eileen’s Trees Inn. -
Day 3: Tarangire National Park – Return to Arusha
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, renowned for its vast elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Tarangire’s landscape is characterized by rolling savannah and the life-giving Tarangire River, which attracts large concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season. During your game drive, you may encounter elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and numerous bird species. After lunch and continued wildlife viewing, return to Arusha in the late afternoon, marking the end of your 3-day Northern Tanzania budget safari.
